Does anyone else have this going on??

every morning i let my car idle to warm it up until it reaches operating temp ( when the needle gets halfway up the gauge to the little squiggley line) anyways i noticed that whenever the car idles it will not exactly sputter but something like it.......it will sit steady and then for a quick second drop almost as if it was going to die out but catches itself.....it idles just a hair above 700 and when this happens it maybe drops to like 700 or just a hair below so it happens very quick but i wanted to know if this was normal or if i should be worried..........by the by i have a 98 gst manual with 84k on the clock CAI, 2.5 inch hks carbon ti exhaust and a greddy types recirc'ed........ thanks guys for any help

my car does it also i pretty sure it is normal.
all other cars i have had do this too.

My car also does this...but my engine at about 3500+ is extremly loud, i dunno if this is normal but yeeshhh it sounds like poo

It sounds like your pass side fan. When the temp. goes up and the fan turns on, the RPM will drop a little. It's normal.

Maybe its time to check ur throttle cable or something.

My car does that too, its just the fan turning on most of the time, ever notice how it drops then speeds up if you turn on the AC while idling? Anyways i thought DSMs were known for idle surge... as well as other things

i dont think its the fans....i can tell when those go on..... it seems more like a fuel problem..... because like i said before it just randomly happens but its like it sputters.....it goes prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sputter(or putt)prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........cant explain but also i had previously posted a question about a loud whinning noise going on inside the cabin.......its not the radio or anything because its not affected by engine speed but it is affected when i turn on a blinker or something like that ne ways someone had said that maybe it was my fuel pump........could my fuel pump be going out and also causing my sputter???

typically people who upgrade their fuel pumps get introduced to the excessive WHINE that comes from under the rear seat.

2G DSM's are famous for not supplying proper voltage to the fuel pump hence the fluctuation in sound when you turn on your blinker. This becomes even more apparent when you do upgrade the pump and you can really hear it spin up and down as the blinker goes on or a fan kicks on or in some cases if you have an aftermarket sound system with good size amps...each time the base kicks your pump will get starved.

Many 2g DSM users are opting to hard wire their pumps to the battery with an external relay to trigger it on with the ignition. This eliminates the flucuation when other devices get turned on. This also ensures that under high load situations your pump has all the power it needs to supply fuel to the motor.
