Smoke effect paint How I did it...

For anyone who has seen the interior pictures of my 2g and wonders how I got the "marble" "smoke" effect in my paint this is how I did it. The supplies you will need are the same for any interior painting job. Sandpaper, Primer (rattle can), Paint of your color choice (rattle can), clear coat (rattle can), and styrofoam cups. First sand and clean your peice. Second lay a coat or two of primer. Third lay your first coat of paint once it dries lay you second coat of paint and once it gets tacky take your cup and light it on fire, hold your peice over the cup so only the smoke hits it. After you the amount of smoke on the part you want wait for the paint to dry and clear coat it one or two coats is all you need. Once it dries you can reinstall your interior peices and enjoy. I don't have pictures on this computer but I have interior pictures in my photos you can access thru my profile. I will post new photos on this thread once my interior changes are complete.

Who wants to come help me hold up my car while I light a crap load of cups underneath it hahahahaah neat painting. Definetly helps create one of a kind parts no smoke is the same.

I may try it on the valve cover if I get around to painting it again in the near future. I wonder how well it would show up with red.

I am doing the whole interior black and gray and gray will have smoke. I just did my door panels in the colors i want and it looks pretty good. Will upload a pic shortly. By the way there is a special clear coat you can purchase if you are wanting to do the smoke effect to your exterior I do not have the info on it but if I find it I will post it.

I really like the effect, looks pretty cool, but even with a black and grey scheme it still doesn't go with the rest of the interior very well.

Definitely post up info on that clear if you find it though, i think a white 2G with that on it would look hot. And i'll be painting mine in the spring hopefully.

I hate the tan in my car there will be no tan in my car when I finish.

The smoke works on all colors except black anything really dark.
