simple question about dataloggers

hi
well i got myself a palm 3c to datalog, an ebay cable (the ones with the 1 piece connector)
an a hot sync cable
the thing is it just won t connect so what s the procedure?
do i have to plug the cable to the car, turn on mmcd, then start the car?
or start the car then plug the cable??
i tried the test function but it says no communications....

I usually plug the logger in the car w/ the logger on then turn the car on.

is there any sort of test u can do to see if the cable is working??

I don't know, do you have the cables on correct, here's it shold be connected if you forgot??

but instead of having separate wires, it s a one piece plug that connects to the diagnostic plug

it s that one
i even got two of them....
so can it be my hotsync cable??even though it works my pda when not connected to the logger cable?
are they usually all working or do they bug often?
and again is there any sort of test i could do??

Ive been sitting here all nite searching bout dataloggers and have read some bad things bout the ebay cables. but i dont know what to check on it......

yea i know but i bought em from a guy that sold hundreads of them....with like 99%positive feedback...
so i m figuring i m doin somethin wrong
but what?

Dont know but ived looked at the same guys stuff. maybe he got a wire in the wrong pin or somthing. does the palm sync up to your computer

well ive got no suggestions except contact the guy you bought it from. Ive had good dealings with messed up stuff off ebay.
