Hey just wondering, I don't have a Turbotimer, but when i drive and then i park the car, i just wait it out avg of 30sec to 90sec depending on how hard and long i was driving, SAME THING RIGHT? just want to make sure, i am saving up as i speak however for a turbotimer...and was wonderin...any turbo timer is good as long as it does its job right? Thanks

I used to just let my car run for a minute or two before I cut it off before I got my Apex TT.

Any turbo timer will get the job done, it's just some brands have other features. For example my apex tt allows you to monitor the o2, a/f (which I don't have hooked up), and battery voltage, in addition to allowing you to turbo time your car for up to 10 minutes.

Most people will say a liquid cooled turbo dont need to be TT'd
i personly think its better for any motor to idle down for a few b4 you kill it.

True for any turbo hahaha...but whats LIQUID??

What is the cheapest ALARM on ebay that will allow our cars to run for a couple mins to let the turbo cool down? Need an exact name or auction link. I need it ASAP!!!!

A water-cooled spool, like under your hood.

Cooling at idle is very inefficient. Your best bet is to coast in gear as much as possible, using as little throttle as you can, for the last mile or two to your parking spot. Anything over ten miles an hour, and you're pumping much more air through the radiator -and, in DSMs with their front-mounted turbos- across the turbo housing than a fan could ever hope to push (or pull). You have better water circulation as well. Further, once a water-cooled turbo is shut off, the water inside it will be thermosiphoned through the cooling system as the warmer water flows from the spool and block into the radiator, where the greater density of the cooler water will displace the warmer water in the system until the thermostat closes.
Turbo timers have limited utility in non-water-cooled turbos, but in DSMs, they're just gimmicks for kids. Let the motor idle after you've come in easy, take the time to turn of the radio, AC, close the sunroof and put up the sunshade, and the turbo will be plenty cool. :thumb:

ok thanks for info,,but now are you telling me that since i dont have a TT..and that im doing it right now just driving..then park in spot and take my time....its better to drive around a couple of blocks going 5 mph then park and cool for only a lil time..is better? or both will be same?

Just take it easy those last couple of miles to your parking place. Or do you often surprise yourself by finding out you've parked?

But yes, moving will cool better than a timer at idle will.

wow defiant you are my hero. for years i have been telling people who had turbo eclipses that and they would be like "youre a v8er you dont know turbo". i do just what you said when i park or whenever the turbo has been ridden hard to full boost any more than 2 minutes before my destination. most times though i never hit any more than 10lbs on the t25 but i still coast down this long ass street before my house in 3rd gear at about 1000rpm's, plus its quieter that way so the neighbors dont get pissed.
