Im having my transmission rebuilt and I am wondering If I should also upgrade the center diff to a speed design 4 spider. I'm planning on running a 16G, ~400HP. Will the stock unit hold up?

And if it breaks, will it take the transmission with it?

Thanks in advance.

Even an E3-16G will only really put out around 385hp peak at the crank with an awesome tune. Need a bit bigger snail to break 400.

The stock diff can take it, and if the center diff pops it'll just let the back end freewheel. No telling if any metal bits will get into the rest of the tranny and cause problems, beyond that. That said, I'd still go with the aftermarket LSD if it can be worked into the budget while you're already doing the rebuild.

thanks for the reply. I know 400hp was a little high, but its a nice round number. I expect around 375 at the flywheel.
