I recently got a lifter tick:notgood: So i was thinking when i go ahead and pull the motor apart to fix the tick should I go ahead and upgrade some of the engine parts? Im still new to all this and not sure what I can do with an all stock car without blowing something up!
So should i upgrade the cams and stuff like that? I want to eventually make 300 to 400 hp but then again my car is still all stock not sure if i should just do bolt on stuff before I mess with engine components

Im not sure what I should do to it since im still new to the whole thing so any ideas and parts that i should change would be appreciated !

:aha:

Then again if you want to go ahead and get cams out of the way and do it all at once I'd say it's a smart idea. They will definitely help out with that goal of 400hp. And it's one less mod you'd have to do later on. Replace your lifters, get new cams, and a new timing belt and then be worry free about any head jobs for awhile.

Why turn a short job of replacing lifters with newer 3g models into pulling and tearing down an engine?

Replace the lifters and move on. We have no idea what your mods are since your profile isn't filled out, but my guess is you probably need to spend money on supporting mods instead of cams.

I don't have any mods that's why i said its all stock because its literally all stock

Defiently was planning to replace timming belt too! if i do decide to upgrade the cams what size should I go for? Ive seen alot of people put 272's

I would just change the lifters and be done with! The only mods you can do with the head on the car is upgrade springs and retainers, valve stem seals and cams. But all that is a bit more involved so unless its broken like valve stem seals leaking just do the lifters

Before you buy cams, get a tuning solution. DSM Link, AMS, something to tune with. Doubtful you will see much of an increase in power just dropping cams in.

If you just want some cams, find a set of "I" or "J" stock cams, those are the 2 largest stock cams.
