i have lifter tick.

Topline is good, but partsdinosaur.com also has them for cheaper (different brand, I believe).

I recently noticed that my OEM (that I've pulled out and reused) seem to never make a noise. While the pd.com ones always had a VERY tiny bit of tick.

Yes any new set of lifters will fix the lifter tick. Top line is a popular choice if you decide not to go OEM. They also have bigger ports for oil for more flow.

I had the same problem with my 1995 Eagle Talon TSI with a slight ticking noise. I replaced them with the OEM revised Lash Lifter and I haven't had any more noise. I got mine from DSMParts.com, and they are kinda pricey but always ship quickly and have great customer service.:hellyeah:

All n00bs anwering other than jjrock.. Get 3g lifters bro. They are inexpensive and your lifter tick will be gone. Do that instead of taking a gamble on some off-brand.

And Khadaw66. Try posting advice and not just clicking on the link and telling him what he already knows next time.

I ordered lifters from partsdinosaur few times for different cars and everytime i had positive experience, no issues with lifters. Plus you can order other parts while you there. Please do not forget to drain oil from your new lifters when you install them.

yea it would def get rid of the ticking for now... just make sure u frequently check your oil.. make sure its not too thin.. (every 3000 miles change) and not too low and you should be ok

Did you try bleeding the lifters? find a vice, wrap a rag around the lifter, have the pin hole facing up towards you, spin the vice to put pressure on it watch the oil bleed out of the lifter and there ya go. You have to bleed it until all the oil is out of the lifter... This should stop your ticking. Save the cash man :)

Why is everyone so worried about lifter tick? Literally every DSM I have ever seen Save 1 had lifter tick. I asked that guy why his engine wasn't ticking and just shrugged and said this was the first one he had that didn't tick.

Its normal, why fix something that isnt broken?

well because of the fact that they dont tick when you buy the car brand new, therefor i dont think think it supposed to tick.... and in some cases they can even cause the timing to be retarded. thats why people are worried about it

They are not supposed to tick, but due to a bad design in the lifters they do. I am sure if you purchase new lifters that are not the revised lifter design that comes in the 3gs then they will start ticking as well.

Lifter tick and revving the motor to redline frequently will encourage the valves to bounce. The tick is from a sudden shock of the lobe ramp to be transfered from the rocker to the lifter. Fix your lifter tick.

BTW, large hole lifters don't hold pressure well enough when you're really ringing a motor out. But this is somethign that applies to guys wanting to run a bit past stock redline.

change the lifter use a dsm 3 g lifter are better than 2g dsm

The 3G lifter doesn't come from a 3rd Gen Eclipse. It's just the 3rd revision of the lifters. Just FYI.

get your valves adjusted or, just get some engine restorer

You can't adjust the valves in our cars. That's what the lash adjusters/"lifters" are for. They create that zero clearance hydraulically.
