I just finished installing my stage 1 from SBR. Got the thing all hooked up put new fluid in it and primed the new oil pump. The probelem is that is is making a horrible scretching noise. It is definitely a metal on metal noise but I can't figure out where it could be coming from. The sound is loudest at idle and quiets down a lot with a little rev to 2k rpms. I can't figure out what is cause the noise or where to look. I have disconnected the accessories already and it is still there. Do new motors make this kind of noise when your first run them from tighter fitting rings or something?

Call SBR and then let us know what they have to say on the matter. It would also help to narrow down what area of the engine the noise is coming from.

I paniced too quick last night. I found the problem. It was the inspection plate for the tranny rubbing up against the fly wheel. I bent the plate around a little and now it's fine. Thank god cause I was going to cry if my new short block was trashed before I even drove it.
