Eprom making wierd noise??

I tryed installing a eprom ecu that was socketed into my 95 talon today and when i disconnect all the harness from the stock one and plugged them in to the socketed one and turned the key something would click rapidly and loudly from near the stock computers location? I know this is not normal but i dont know what it is, any insight would be appreatiated. thanks

Do you have the ecu grounded? (bolted in)

Also if you have any other electricals that aren't grounded and run to the computer it could cause that problem.

Im an idiot, no it was just sitting on my floor i wanted to try it before i actually unbolted the stock one. And i found that it didnt come with a chip in it just the plug for dsm link so it probly wouldnt have ran anyway am i correct? Thanks for the fast reply though habitatguy.

Haha no problem! I figured you might have done that because if I didn't know I would've done the same thing . No sense in going through the work if it doesn't work right?

As for link I can't say. I would think that it should work but I'm not positive.

The plug as you call it is the socket for the missing EPROM. You need one or DSMLink. The relays and solenoids often start clicking because without a chip the ECU is executing random code and getting watchdog resets.
