Well, one day I was driving on the highway, and the noise started coming out from the trans. It sounded like the bearing was bad. It only happens when the clutch is not pushed in, if it is-- it's not making the sound. Then it stopped sounding like that for a day, and now it started again. It just bugs the crap out of me, I just want to know what's wrong with it, is it like going out? And my second gear is grinding pretty badly. If I need a new tranny, would it be better to buy a used low mileage 2G AWD transmission (if they fit, and do they have a better syncros), or should I send mine for a rebuild to Shep. The problem is that it's the only car I have, and I need it every day, and do any of you know if he'll take like the monthly payments. Any help or advice, thanks. :coy:

Shep is hands down THE guy to go to when it comes to rebuilding your tranny. I've heard pretty good things about the turn around time on his work. Is it possible to take the bus to/from your everyday destinations?

Ive got the same problem with my tranny on my 90 eclipse n/t..the bearings are going bad and it makes an extremely annoying sound only when the clutch isnt in....and now my shift knob wiggles when i drive and it pops out of 4th gear every now and then:(

Describe the sound.

Is it a squeaking sound?
If it is your throw out bearing might be crooked.
