Edmonton,
alright i just got my 95 TSI awd and had been driving it for a while when these new sounds started popping out of no where. Originally the timing belt shqueeled and i didnt think much of that since im getting a full tuneup on monday at this DSM place in my location.... But .... Yesterday i was driving and all of a sudden it started making this really weird sound when i hit the throttle too hard, kind of like a belt turning but struggling so making a really stiff loud sound. Or sortev like a fan turning but having alot of resistance along the way. The car still seems to be running well, lots of power, but this loud noise has made me stop driving the car until i get it into the mechanic. Anyone have any idea what's going on??? Thanks

Oh, also, what can i do to make sure the mechanic at this dsm place doesnt swindle me or charge me to high for things just because im fairly newb.

be a little bit more specific as of where the noise is coming from, passenger side/driver side etc. does it make the same noise at idle when you give it throttle? the squealing might just be the alternator belt. do you know when the last time all the belts were replaced?

I have no idea when the belts were replaced, that's why i'm gettin the tuneup monday. The noise only happens when i floor it, not in neutral, and usually not in low rpms. Not when i rev either.im assuming it has something to do with the alternator because my battery was dead when the car arrived, and it still cant keep it's charge even after i drive it for like 30 minutes. I've been having to boost it everytime i wanna drive her

the reason why your belt making that noise is because your belt is loose.... get that fixed asap... you don't want that too snap. Happened too me and the car won't do anything becuase those 2 belts are connected too altnerator, no electrical power for dsm's = not good becuase these cars have allot of electricals. But once i got that new belt on the car worked perfect.

K thanks for the replies. Im takin her in at 8 30 in the morning tomorrow. I live in Canada and am taking it to this place that specializes in dsms, any idea how much all of this should cost so i dont get ripped?

is this your first trubo car? maybe the sound your hearing (not the sqeeling but the other sound) is just the turbo "sucking" and the BOV releasing it..?

it is my first turbo car, but i know what the air sucking / bov sounds like LOL :p. This sound like developed haha. The alternator belts sounds about right because i have no power at all to the battery and the electrical system flickers sometimes
