hello, i have a 1997 GST and my AC has been making weird noises since i bought the car. So i cut the belt and said forget it for then. Well....i live in south florida and it gets hot out here so i put the belt back on and tensioned it all correclty to spec. The thing is when i reached down at the compressor pulley i noticed that when i spun the pulley it made a weird grinding noise. anyway i put on the belt and started the car, it makes a loud whine like a supercharger kind of sound and does not go away unless i put the AC ON. Once it's on the sound is lessened. Then once the AC cools the car down and everything is cool the sound comes back on i guess as the clutch from the AC either goes off. Also i find the engine revs a lot slower than normal. Before it revved very quickly and now it feels like its lagging. Please help??? im thinking its the bearings in the pulley/compressor or something like that????!!! :dsm: WTF

What you have there is a Former A/C Compressor. Oh, it might be just the bearings, or just the clutch, or just the something else.
Grab another compressor off eBay, or from one of the rocket surgeons around here who thought last October that removing the A/C and shaving off that hideous thirty pounds of mass was a good idea.
