This bolt gave us the most trouble you need a 5mm Hex and I think a 14mm wrench to get it off, with PA roads took about 15 minutes without ####ing it the bolt.

I THINK we only removed 3 bolts total to get this done but they look really shitty so we wired brushed them and cleaned them off.
this was a before pic,

Dont forget to tighten the top 3 bolts to torque specs,

these were tokico blues with some red springs, lowered the car 1.5 inches. took about 4 hours total time but we did dick around alot taking breaks and like I said above that one bolt without stripping it took about 15 minutes both sides. The rear was cakewalk

I am happy with my purchase from another forum member I am still a n00b so I posted theses here since I cant post in the tech articles but feel free to copy and share the photos for the better of the community, my name is Chris Roscoe so look me up and add me as a friend if you wish.

Good work on the install. That is some serious rust on the mounting plates. Fortunately, it looks like the strut towers themselves are in good shape (at least on the top side).

However, you're car seems awfully low for a supposed 1.5" drop. Frankly, that looks more like a 3+ inch drop. IMO, that low of a ride height will not only be very impractical for street driving (scraping and resulting damage) but it won't even handle good. The suspension components are going to be so far out of the intended geometry that they won't function properly. You will also most likely bottom out the shocks causing a very harsh ride and blown shocks in short order.

So Freaking beautifull, congratulations, one question thoug
Doesn't make you sad to hit the bumper each time you run into a "hill" on the road ( not quite sure if thats the definition of it)

its actually not that bad the front bumper is primmered right now so little scrapping doesnt bother me but I do need some type of metal or splitters under there.

i agree, very nice work. however as one said before: it looks like a bit more than a 1.5" drop. you may want to trade aesthestics for function. raise it up a couple inches from where its at now, it will handle better and you wont feel every grain of sand you run over LOL. these cars are no cadillacs but dropping them that far makes them unbearable to drive. if your young, maybe its no big deal, but my back hurts llike hell after driving my gst for too long...

Looks like the end of the spring is not seated correctly.

Was going to say the same.

How did you end up getting the lower bolt removed? I'm currently in the process of this (spent the end of my night last night removing the upper lock nut, which is a pain, and figuring out that the lower bolt is a hassle to even get to, muchless get any torque on it) and it comes to that point. It's funny that one can go through so many of these things and always find something you haven't done before. I've never had the need before now to remove any part of the suspension in a 2g. :hmm:

Nice pics and write-up, but I'm predicting that you'll be very sick of Sportlines-on-Blues by the end of the summer.

ps. you have used your allotment of exclamation points for the year

I bought a car with the same color springs and same struts and was told that its a 2 inch drop. If it wasnt already done I would not have gone this far. I cant even get a jack under the car. I want to raise it but I have to build the motor now so suspension is on hold. What size rims and tires are you running? Mine are 225/40/r18. Once I put the bumper back on, I have no idea on how ill jack it up if I have to work on it.

drive it up on some boards

I agree with pretty much everything stated. And it looks like you need a camber kit really bad.

I used to have that same setup and it wasn't that low. Something doesn't look right.

Good write up, but get those springs seated right. Don't want suspension issues at 75MPH, especially on the freeway.

I had a similar setup on my old Esi and got sick of it quick, especially here in Ut with all the potholes and crappy roads.

Those two 17mm nuts hold the upper control arm to the body.
