Ok I had a 6 puck clutch and never had a problem with it other than the fact that reverse chattered really bad, so I upgraded to a act 2600 kit well within a week of driving it i shattered the disc, the whole inside broke off and left me with the piece that goes around the input shaft the piece that touchs the flywheel and a bunch of little pieces and springs and stuff. So I ordered another disc and put it in and this time I drove for about 3 to 4 days of driving and I pulled the tranny to put in a new pivot point and clutch fork and I noticed the clutch disc was a little loose, so I pull the pressure plate off and find that my second brand new disc was cracked all the way around the inside again and all the little springs are loose now. What can cause all this? this a picture of my 1st disc if I attached it right.

Thanks for any help,
Jeremy

Are you sure that you had the clutch aligned properly when attaching the pressure plate? That isnt a 6-puck disc so im confused though. It is a full faced disc.

Yes it was aligned right, I used the alignment tool that I got with the kit. I even checked it after I had the pressure plate tight to make sure the clutch couldnt move at all. It is a full face street disc from act its the 2600 disc.

This kind of failure is not very common, especially on a new clutch. Usually a failure of this nature is related to misalignment or high mileage. It is not the misalignment of the clutch when you bolt it down, since that corrects itself as soon as you press the clutch for the first time, but misalignment of the engine to the transmission. If the hollow dowels are not in place, or if the engine bolts come loose, you will get this type of misalignment causing a sideload that the disc is not able to stand. Your best bet is to call and get an RGA number and have us look at it. We can usually see signs of misalignment if that is the problem, when we examine the parts, regardless of the cause. We may even be able to get a better idea if we get some close up digital shots of the disc. If you can email them to me directly ([email protected]), I will gladly take a look. GIve me some particulars, like driving habits, power level, flywheel type, when the clutch broke, etc.

I will get my friends digital camera tommorrow they only thing i have is my phone so I will try to send better pictures as soon as I can. Thanks

This is outstanding. I am gald we have a guy on that has all of the knowledge about the ACT clutches!!:thumb:

I have a ACT 2600 and AWD flywheel in my FWD and am loving it. It holds like NO OTHER!

Please keep us updated as to what could have happened in this particular case.

Join the club...ACT 6-Puck broken....Yes everything was aligned right, all bolts to torque specs, all dowel pins linned up right. Yes I dropped it in oil after I took it out by accident. It was a lot cleaner. Used for around 7000miles, and only 4-5 hard launchs at the track once. Normal driving with no hard shifting, also was/am using a ACT 2100 Pressure Plate with a stock flywheel. :thumbdown
