I have a 98 eclipse rs. completly stock. Has 136k miles and i have no idea when the last time the clutch was change if it was at all. the problem im having is i push the clutch and it feels like im pushing nothing.. But if i pump it 6 or 7 times it will stiffen up and let me shift into gear. after driving for a few seconds i go to push the clutch in and nothing happens the rpms stay up. i pump it and after a while it will let me out of gear. it was fine 20 min later after restarting my car to go somewhere it just didnt want to work for me. what could it be?

Try checking the clutch master cylinder on the firewall ,to see how much fluid is in it. then check the line going to the slave cylinder and the slave cylinder itself for leaks . kinda sounds like you might have a leak somewhere.

it happened last night, its also 3 degrees out and i found out lastnight that i had no fluid in my clutch resivour i filled it since but it took barely any fluid in maybe 2 or 3 ounces seemed like it filled from bottom to max line i have no idea how the clutch fluid works though. ive put a lot of miles on it in the last 2 weeks this is my first winter with it and im sure the cars coldest winter it came from texas..

try bleeding the lines, if that doesnt help, id sugest to start by replacing the slave cylinder. it sounds like you have air in your lines tho

You have to push the clutch pedal to the floor and have some one crack the bleeder loose on the slave cylinder then tighten it back up to avoid getting air back in . do this a couple of times , bleeding the air with each pump. dont let up on the pedal till the bleeder is tight ,then repeat. remember to keep fluid in the resevoir to avoid getting air in the line.

well i took a third look at my car and on the dead pedel it has fluid on it and on the firewall leaking down. im still lost as what to do

LOL the dead pedel is the plastic piece that looks like a pedal all the way to the left, right above that is my master cylinder. but nevermind the dead pedal. is this an easy fix? if instructed right?

Bolt is stuck to bleed the cylinder any idea on what to do now?

You could use a pair of visegrips but you'll probably end up ruining the fitting. you might end up replacing the slave cyl. i'd try to get it loose with a wrench 1st and then the grips ,if the wrench don't work . what do you got to lose ?

Dont even bother trying to bleed it until you find and fix the leak.

If it is the master cylinder, does anyone know if they make a rebuild kit for them?

I got the bolt off and bled it 4 times got all the air out and the compression is even better than before thanks guys for the help and my master is still leaking slowly and I'm nowhere near my house it's a temp fix till I get there

I also found a rebuild kit for 15 bucks
