I was was wondering what you guys or girls think about scar pro 4340 forged h beam rods cause i planning a to build my motor real soon for some big power and i saw these rods on sale at extremepsi for 299 and was wondering if anybody has any thing good or bad to say about them.

By "big power" what do you mean? These seem to be similar to Eagles which have been shown to let go above 600hp.

But if you're gettin serious about the power then I wouldn't mess with them.

i was thinking about 650-700 hp what would you recomend then for that type of power

Manley 'Turbo Tuff' I-beams. They are pricey but that goes with the territory if you want a 700hp DSM.

You could be real baller and get the Manley Pro Series 300M alloy rods. They claim those rods will handle over 1300whp. But again it all comes down to $.

The Eagles will handle 650-700hp all day long. Tim Zimmer (Twicks69) on here has made 800whp on a set of Eagles.

Amen. Many have taken them to well over 800whp. They let go because of shotty tuning. Overrevving a stroker.

Proven combo for a 700whp dsm is a eagle/wiseco or eagle/ross. The softer (lower silicone content) wiseco aluminum can take more frequent bouts of knock and still tolerate 700+whp. And the eagle rod as mentioned has gone SO far for so long. You can get both in a kit for between $700-800 the cost of some rod upgrades alone.

Speaking of Tim. . . read what he says about rods/pistons. Click! Leans more toward a stroker application but still great information to be used here. If you plan on sticking with an 88mm stroke. Don't hesitate to use the hbeam eagles. Or if you don't plan on revving over 8K with a stroker, the eagles are perfect. It's wne you start getting to piston speeds beyond the 2.0L, that you see issues with a heavier steel rod. You can make 700whp with a 7500rpm rev limit using a stroker. Been done frequently.
