i just got my SBR Cast manifold in today, just wondering if anyone else has one? and if so what are your thoughts?

btw the SBR manifold should match my ported Evo16g perfectly, ill either be putting it on today or tomorrow. ill tell everyone whats up when i get done driving it.

I have one and it is a great manifold. I'd paint it with some 1500 degree paint before installing it. I did not, and mine is pretty rusty.

Yes i have it on my 1G.
Its a huge manifold and well designed.
But remmember since it pushes everything out a little further from the water neck, make sure you do some hacking or adjustments to you oil return line.
Good luck

I did not have to do anything to the oil return line; it is a tight one, but it fits without leaks.

I bought one ported and Jet hot coated. It's a really nice piece. The reason the flange is larger is so that when you run larger turbos, you don't have to dent the water pipe.
You shouldn't have to replace the exhaust manifold studs as It seemed to fit fine.
I just sold mine because I decided to go with a different setup.

Mine should be coming in, in the middle of the upcoming week. Im slapping it on with a Big16g and im siked. I also got a new set of SS studs so I hope they fit right with the new manny. Ill let ya know if I have any problems, but I doubt it. :D

would you recommend having them port it, if im only on stock turbo now, and probably wont get a HUGE turbo later? would it be any help at all? is porting just more for when u have/plan on getting a bigger turbo?

also, did they have an option on there to paint it or have it coated so it dont rust? i dont rememeber seeing one? maybe they will for a small fee anyhow.

I would get it ported..just makes life easier unless you want to do it yourself. It doesn't matter what turbo you have now or are going with, porting will always help.
I'm sure if you called them they could have it coated...or you can get it and send it out yourself..

When I got my sbr manifold, It was unported, I just cleaned up the runners a bit, And polished them. It is HUGE. I can't even imagine it being ported, Since it is very big already. It was a very nice manifold.

i live close to SBR so im up ther often. and i was talkin to Craig and he showed me the actual cast that him and Mike made for the manifolds and it was F@cking enormous. i couldnt beleive it, he also showed me the actual manifold ported and i was impressed. i plan on getting one soon.

I got my unported SBR Manifold today, OMG this thing is fricken huge compared to the stock 1g manny. The runners are bigger the manifold is beefier and the outlet matches my ported Big16g Perfectly. :thumb:

I got mine for Christmas with a SBR gift certificate :thumb: . I plan on installing this weekend. Anything I should have in advance? I already have the 7cm gasket, do I need another from off the runners?

12-Pack of Bud Light and a manny to head gasket.

Just mounted mine. On 1G, you do need to do some grinding on the driver side. Other than that, it seems to be nice manifold.

heres my ported sbr vs stock 1g

OEM gasket works perfect, the manifold comes with a new turbo gasket tho

Just assembled the turbo assembly, just waiting on some new ss head to manny studs and Im ready to go :thumb:

Did any other 1G guys have to grind off the corner to mount it? I thought they were cast to avoid that problem.....

I had to grind the lower driverside corner to clear the bracket. And I needed to grind around the upper passenger side bolt hole. I did that because the SS washer wouldn't sit anywhere near flat. The mani was flat just not radiused deep enough.

I had to grind the corner by the powersterring pump for like 6-7 seconds and it slid right on.

yep had to do the same for a car i built grind it down a bit but over all i was impressed with it they did a great job on that one

i said id let you guys know how it is when i get it installed

before the sbr i was running the stock 2g. full boost at 20psi came on at about 3500rpm, and thats with the fmic. around town i would touch maybe 2psi to get up to speed, and was rather laggy and sluggish feeling.

installed the sbr cast manifold with ease. i have a Ported Evo3 16g and the Sbr Cast manifold(without porting or such) matched the turbo perfectly. reused everything but the gasket(got a free one) and the turbo gasket that came with the sbr manny. took it for a drive and could feel the difference. it has alot more throttle response and torque under the boost spectrum. i dont even hit 0 boost anymore around town and its a rather good feeling to drive it, its very responsive now. in a 3rd gear pull 0psi comes instantly at 2800 and full 20psi is achieved at 3200. it pulls very nicely all the way to redline.

id say it was well worth the 250 bucks. i hope this helps those who are considering the manifold as their next upgrade.

now on to my last exhaust restriction, the downpipe and cat.
