I have a set of rebuilt evo injectors, I have a DSM link V-2 but I haven't used it yet bc it wont fit into my laptop connection, So my question is, since I have the DSM link, do I still have to buy a SAFC or can I do all the tuning from the DSM link? And would it be smart to put in those injectors in without having the hook-up to the dsm link at the moment or an SAFC?

Thanks

you will not need a safc if your using dsmlink. all tuning is done thru dsmlink. also i would not go throwing in those injectors untill you get dsmlink hooked up. it sounds like you dont have a serial port on your laptop. am i correct? if not you can go to radio shack and buy a serial x usb cable for about $20 and that should take care of it for you.

i should have mentioned if you need a picture of the cable i'm talking about pm me and i'll send you a picture of the one i have.

Agreed^
If you have Dsmlink you do not need an Safc. Maybe hold off on installing the injectors until you get the connections figured out.

You lost me a little bit on this one. DSM link bases your reset on your memory board for 2nd gens at what you specify i.e. 680's, 450's, 1000's, etc. So, for your link to work it's basic programming would need to be set on the injectors you tell them to set it at. Talk to the mods at link forums and you should be good to go soon. And your laptop connection isn't DB9 connected, otherwise it would hook right up to your laptop with no problems. I have for my link a DB9 to USB connector, and it works flawlessly. And get rid of the SAFC, I don't know why you would have Link and an SAFC in one car.

With that connector make sure that its the right specifications for your computer, ie) if you have vista make sure that it will work with it because i know that if it doesnt say it then it wont work.

I have vista and it works for me! Although now that you mention it i may have had to download a newer driver but nothing major.

Im also confused on this as well. Did you buy the DSMlink with the car or used or new your self? Are the afc and DSMlink both installed or unistalled. I think this thread neeeds a little more info for any one to properly answer your injector question.
