Alright, so today I installed a walbro 255 into my car. And yes I know that similar questions have already been asked, many many times, regarding the whole 255 and no afpr thing, but I have a different question. So I do have a afpr but I wasnt able to install it with my wally today cause Im waiting on some things. Anyway, I decided to start the car and check for leaks anyway and my car is just puffing out white/blue smoke. Its as much smoke as if I just seafoamed my car. My question is, when I do install the afpr, will it fix this issue or do I have a different problem on my hands. Oh ya, and I didnt drive the car but I did move it and it seems to run just fine.
 
I figured it out. I changed my vac lines to vc vent, through my catch can to the pcv valve.

I had it hooked up like this. I think it may have been because I was still using the pcv valve?
 
the lines are there for a reason where it says stock. at idle the pcv valve is open so the intake manifold vacuum pulls crankcase pressures and fumes and when in boost the pcv closes and turbo pulls crankcase pressure through intake/vacuum hose under boost.
the modded picture looks way off, youre supposed to put the catch can in between the IM and pcv and or valve cover nipple and intake pipe. if you use two catch cans put one between IM and pcv and the other on valve cover nipple and intake.
when there is blow by youll smoke if you dont have the proper pcv system.
 
I've seen many guys run it both ways. I changed it back, so whatever. Its fine now. I'll just have to look into it more if I do ever plan on running it like that.

White blue smoke is smoke or water black smoke is fuel.To anwser your qeustion its doubtfull

not necessarily true. i've seen cars with injectors stuck open so bad that it was washing the cylinders and misfiring and they smoked blueish white. looked similar to seafoam with a bit of oil smoke.

Also, I dont see why that catch can setup would cause any smoking issues if it was vented properly. My car smoked with the catch can plumbed into the intake tube, because it filled up so fast and it would start inhaling the contents rather than creating a low pressure area to hold it in the can. I had the best results just plugging off the intake tube similar to your setup and just running the line that came off of the tube straight down and dumped under the car LOL.
 
This setup will only work if the catch can is vented. If you did decide to go this route, I would suggest running a line to the intake pipe rather than venting. And while this setup can result in lower pressure at full-throttle (with proper sized lines), your idle/cruising ventilation will suffer.

Ahhh that's my problem. I'm just going to take my catch can out until I reaaally need it. Thanks for the help.
