I just put on a afpr yesterday and after taking it for a drive it runs in the 9's under boost. My cars still has stock injectors and fuel pump and it ran fine untill i put the afpr on ( ran 11's under boost). Its set to 43 psi.

very dumb question but are you suppost to run the afpr with the stock fuel controller thingy still hooked up to the vaccum lines?

If you have an aftermarket FPR you should take the stock FPR off the side of your fuel rail thats is what the aftermarket one is replacing. I am pretty sure your only supposed to be running 30 psi at idle...

2g should be at 43psi. The stock fuel map of a 2g I believe is 9.8:1 or 9.5:1. If its running more rich than before I would take out a psi of FP and then go do a run untill its where you want it. Or retune WOT.

you need to set fuel pressure with the vacume line off.

set it to 43psi with the vacume line off and reattach and you should be good to go!

I know this car needs a re tune for sure i just finished putting a small 16g on to so it probly didnt help with the rich problem. The pressure was set with the vac line off to 43 psi but it still was to rich so i brought it down to about 35psi and it still ran really rich. Then i put the stock piece back on and the same thing.. Really rich.

Jayrolla you said bring don the pressure till its normal?

And yes i know i need to tune it but im waiting till i get my real turbo on before i send it in. But or now i want it to atleast run in 11's like before..

If your running rich at idle with stock injectors I would leave the fuel pressure at 43, and start looking elsewhere. Check for exhaust leaks before the wideband sensor, and check the front o2 sensor.
Also make sure the maf harness is plugged in. Without larger injectors it should idle fairly well.
My money is on the front o2 sensor.

The car idles fine its just under load and boost it drops down to the 9's. Ill check the front o2 sensor maybe it got damaged when i transfered it to the 16g.

Oh and i changed back to the stock afpr same thing.. so it cant be it

Maybe for some but mine ran 11's at the lowest. I did find a huge boost leak and that half solved it.. So i checked the front o2 by unplugging it and my a/f ratio stayed the same, can a guy check the sensor this way?

If everything is right as mitsu intended, the stock AFR's are in the 9's. Look at the stock fuel map if you don't believe what JayRolla already stated. 1g's, 2g's, and even Evo's are set up this way from the factory. I think their reasoning is for safety in case something happens to lean it out, such as the FPR line comes off or something. Have you done a boost leak test? Leaks will make it run richer than it otherwise would. Your AFR's however, seem like stock to me. Basically every stock car I've seen at dyno days have ran 9.x:1.

Are you talking about the FPR solenoid? The FPR solenoid is used for the first 2-3 minutes during hot starts, to help with vapor lock/fuel percolation issues. Many guys remove it, but it may cause a poor idle or stalling issues for the first 15 seconds after a hot start.
As others have said, the stock 2G maps are 9.5:1. Perhaps your stock FPR wasn't raising the pressure 1:1?
Also, I have found underhood pressure gauges to be highly unreliable. I prefer to set the base fuel pressure by watching your LTFT while cruising. When the LTFT is at 0, your fuel pressure is perfectly matched to the injectors.

I did do a boost leak test and it made the car run a lot better. I think what was happening was the wide band read 9.5 but the ratio was lower than that because i think it stops reading any lower after 9.5. Now under boost im in the 10.1 range and its alot better. Thanks for the help guys! and im off to put my new afpr back on :thumb:
