Running hot/overheat at idle, fans working fine.

I'm looking for some input to be sure I'm on the right track here.

95 Talon 2.0 turbo, stock. Running hot (wouldn't take long to straight up overheat) while at idle for more than just 3 or 4 minutes. With or without ac on and both fans are working. New tstat & water pump within the last 3k.

I just got it a few months ago, and it has had water pump, timing, tstat, belts, fuel injectors, fuel pump, gas tank & pressure regulator all within the last 3k miles. Ac blasts ice cold and good heat. I have not yet flushed the coolant, and I'm thinking it needs to be done & probably just isn't cooling efficiently enough to cool at idle. Temp gauge is solid when moving. Turning heat on full blast keeps it in control in traffic.

It's been running beautifully for the last 2500 miles or so, but sat for a while with previous owner. The need for a flush probably the issue? Anything I'm missing here?

Sounds like you know what the issue is, Id check the thermostat again as thats a cheap part anyway. They can clog easy.

Flush it. Replace thermostat cause there really cheap anyways and replace rad. cap they can cause overheating issues as well.

Is antifreeze new?

check your coolant level... as we use a pressurized system, it is possible it is low, or has air trapped in the system.. Also, as previously said, replace the inexpensive parts (T-stat, filler cap, coolant)
Cap and air bubbles were my issue with my last rebuild..

sounds like you have too much water, not enough coolant.

sounds like you have air traped in the system drop the coolant and bleed the system

Start with the flush. Replace the cap before you buy another rad..sometimes the gasket on the cap can crack and leak pressure. Do you smell any coolant burning?

Knock on wood, this ittle purple car runs DAMN good for a 16 yr old car with 100,000k+ .... she's a keeper. (Knock on wood onnnnnne more time.... )
