mishimoto fans no good? car running extremely hot...

car is runng 220+ after i drive it for awhile, i cant figure out why. coolant pressure test holds 17psi without issue, theres no air in the system after running it for 45 minutes to get the air out and refilling it, tstat isnt the issue, radiator cap is brand new, im out of ideas, it feels like the fan is barely blowing anything. anyone wire up a mishimoto and have or not have issues?

Do you have a FMIC? Are you using 1 or 2 fans? Stock radiator or upgraded? Are you using a fan shroud? If using 2, do you have time wired together or like stock? How did you wire the fans to the car?

big FMIC (ets race core) mishimoto radiator, no ac, single 14" fan. seeing if i wired it correctly.

That's your issue right there. The FMIC is blocking most of the air to the radiator and it's already heated air. If you don't have an air diverter to the radiator, the air after the FMIC may not even go into the radiator.

A single fan with no shroud is only pulling air from a small surface area of the radiator which is also hurting your cooling capacity. When wiring you need to tap the 4 harness wires to the 2 fan wires. If you don't have both power wires from the harness connected to the fan then you will only have a singe speed signal to the fan. You need both wired up so the fan will run when either signal goes to it since the fan itself only has 1 speed.

Your coolant mix can play into your cooling factor as well.

I'm seeing temperatures of 219-223 or so with my setup running 70-30 water with water wetter. If I put in an air diverter then the temp numbers will go down drastically.

ive added some ducting with a radiator scoop from under the car, but even at idle my car is sky rocketing. i have fans set to go on at ALL times by dsmlink.

question, would having the fan on the driver side and not the passenger side make a difference? the fan is facing directly at the turbo/exhaust mani, there is no fan on the passenger side.

a 2nd fan will take care of your issue i also run 30% coolant with water wetter.

also if you can put your stock heat sheilds on if they are off for some reason that will help too

I have an ETS FMIC with stock Radiator and dual fans (stock engine fan, and Spal for AC). I still have full AC and dont overheat. As recommended put another quality fan on the radiator. I personally would recommend a Spal puller fan - but it may come down to preference.

added a 12" fan i bought from landoawd, as well as a 180 thermostat. car ran great, only hit 200 twice during stop lights, running mostly water but some radiator flush as well.

problem is, once i stop the car, let it cool and open tstat housing, and theres no coolant there at all, i think im losing some but my car holds a pressure test fine. not sure what to do about that....

I bought dual mishimoto larger cooling fans with shroud on my 97 GSX, and it definitely helps. I am thinking of buying a turbo blanket, but I have heard some people are concerned that wit the 16G it might catch and hold oil if there is a leak, and be a fire hazard. Have you heard about this, thoughts?

But back to topic, your mishimoto fans should help, and maybe some diverting of air from under the car, from the fog light area, or drilling in the front of your grill would help.
