Run MMCD Logger and other logger in WIN XP on laptop now?

So for a couple of days I tried to figure out a method to run MMCD Logger on my Laptop(win XP), since I'm to cheap to buy a Palm.
Aparently there are 2 methods that I can think off.
I downloaded today the latest version of Palm OS Cobalt Simulator for WIN XP, and loaded up the mmcd.prc in the simulator with no problems.
It's sweet shows up the main menu , and same functions as the PDA version.
I hit the Log button and it shows me : "Serial 030C error" since I didn't buy a ALDL cable yet. Now I have to wait 1-2 days till I get the parts to build my own ALDL cable.
Did anybody tried running MMCD Logger on Laptop?? and if so how??
The 2nd method that I came up with is compiling the source code again for windows:
I know for sure with cygwin(linux compiler in windows) you can compile the MMCD logger source code for a win aplication and run it on a laptop/mini car PC.
I will keep you guys posted, all this programs and the MMCD Logger source code is open source/free.
Also Palm'n'Stein should work
I'm very curious , anybody tried it before??

Im sorry to bring a old thread up, but I was wondering if anyone has done this?
I have a logger, but I dropped the damn cradle and now it doesnt work.

So instead of buying a new one I was trying to find a way to put the program on my lap top so I dont have to use the palm.

I came across a forum that showed how to do it but I cant remeber where I found it at. I came across this thread and wonedered if anyone has done it?

I had to buy a few things but it worked fine on my laptop when I last set it up.
