I am trying to build a daily driver capable of 500-600whp. Currently I'm looking at a deal on Ross pistons and Eagle rods and I am wondering what the good and bad is for this setup in a daily driver. I know many recommend Wiseco/Eagle combo, but I would like to focus only on the Ross/Eagle combo here.

-Thanks in advance :thumb: -

The Eagle/Ross combo will be fine for your power goals and I feel is actually a little stronger than the standard Wiseco piston. The downside to this combination for a daily driver is that the Ross piston requires a much larger piston to wall clearance (almost double) what the Wiseco requires. This means you're going to want to warm the car up before doing anything every day and it's going to be noisier, especially in colder weather. It's ultimately going to come down to personal preference. I daily drove both an eagle/wiseco combo and an eagle/ross combo. The eagle/wiseco combo ended up scuffing the cylinder walls bad but I didn't set that motor up so I don't know what the PTW clearance was. The eagle/ross combo was perfect for years (about 3) and eventually took me into the 9's, but I was sure to warm up the car before going anywhere, every single time I started it.

True that... What is the weight differences between the two. I know the mahle piston is the lightest. I was going to go with the malhe piston/ scat or eagle h's. But i have heard nothing bad from your set up

just how warmed up do you mean? In the winter here I can let my car sit idling for 10 minutes (turbo timer ) and it'll only reach 150 or so. And unless traffic is really crazy (not likely)it will never get warmer than that.

I'm using the Ross/Eagle combo. I live in FL, so it's usually not that cold here and I do let it warm up a bit before I go anywhere (most of the time, at least). I have no scuffing of the cylinder walls at all. It was torque plate honed when I built it, though. Unfortunately, I broke a shift fork earlier this year and haven't switched transmissions out yet, so I haven't driven it in a little while.
