I've got an issue where there's current flowing when the car is off, leaving me with a dead battery far too often. I'd traced it to the room fuse. Initially I was drawing 1A, until I un-depressed the center button on the overhead light. Now I am still drawing about .2A, which I do believe is far too much.

I've checked all of the lights, buttons on the front dash, and the hatch light to insure that they aren't on and the buttons aren't physically stuck to the naked eye. What else is on this circuit?!?!?

Thanks ....

Hatch light, dome light, left and right foot lights, key illumination light. Remove all these bulbs to see results. Keep in mind if someone wired the radio (channel memory) or theft alarm here, that may be your draw so you might want to try disconnecting them also.

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't realize there was a right foot light - I'll have to take another look. Is there an easy way to get at the key illumination light? That's one of the few areas I haven't had the pleasure of taking apart in the last year. :rocks:

FWIW, I've discovered that the clock on the stock radio is also tied into this circuit, as it now starts over during every start up. The power locks also are included in this circuit, as they no longer function with the fuse pulled.

The only aftermarket wiring I have is a turbo timer with an adapter harness, though it's not the problem I don't believe since the turbo timer doesn't reset and still properly works with the fuse pulled.

Both the ECU and radio use this circuit to maintain their settings.
Well, I'd heard mention that the ECU was on this circuit, but assumed that the entire ECU would be wired to the same fuse. It is dissapointing to read that my trims are indeed being reset constantly.

I see now that I misread the diagrams.
Where are the diagrams? I've got a haynes manual, but I don't really follow where the interior wiring is diagramed. They've got the basic ignition setup, ect, but either I'm an idiot or the wiring going through the room fuse isn't displayed anywhere. Is there some location online where this information is laid out better? The VFAQ didn't have anything nor did I find anything useful on the 1000Q&A.

If your draw is only .2A I'd say that's alright. With computer controlled cars a draw of 50mA is acceptable and yours is 20mA. I'd suspect that your battery may be at fault. An easy way to check is to charge it completly and let it set until you feel that it would be dead. Batteries can develope internal shorts that will cause them to drain themselves. Hope this helps.

A quick easy way to test your battery is to measure battery voltage with engine off (normally 12.0-12.8V). Then turn on your headlights to high beam, and radio, and open doors. Voltage should not drop more than 0.5V. My normal everything off battery draw is 34mA (ECU and radio memories). When door is opened it's 1.6A (interior lights). If you suspect a short or excessive drain see here for test: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1496998#post1496998

BTW .2A = 200mA (not 20mA).

Thanks guys for giving me more to go on and look into during the upcoming weekend. :thumb: .
