Room lamp fuse and no headlights

well... to start off, i bought this car back in august i believe... i bought it running.. it just needed a new clutch and flywheel.. i did that and shortly afterwards the turbo went. at that point i started upgrading everything... THE ONLY ELECTRICAL ISSUE AT THIS POINT WAS THE HEADLIGHTS... i bought the car with this problem..

when the headlight relay is in the headlight would stay on.. no parking lights unless i used the stalk.. the only way to turn off the headlights were to unplug the relay..

ive put in 1120 injectors a b16g turbo and all the mods needed for it.... also took the head off, sent it to get resurfaced and did a timing job.. when everything was done.. i plugged in dsm link cable and got nothing ... plugged in my scan tool and the tool wasn't getting power .. then i noticed NOTHING was on ..i went and checked fuses and turns out the room lamp fuse was blown.. when i put in a good 10A fuse, it blow immediately.

also now when the relay is plugged in for the headlights, the headlights don't turn on.. nothing turns on.. i have not checked the tail lights

i have tried looking at a schematic but im at complete loss

The fuse box by the shock tower contains some larger fuses that handle this area. Bet one popped on you.

are you talking about the fuse box under the hood? that's where the room lamp fuse im talking about is located

Yeppers ... Should be some fuses that feeds the fusebox.

Also, a small thing that I forgot all about is the door switch that controls the room light: It uses chassis ground to activate and it's a simple spring loaded pin connection where if any corrosion is located where the tang on the button touches ground, the dome light will not work. Have to clean that area up under the rubber covering.

ill go take a look at the door switch in a few minutes and hopefully theres something there screwing things up... also.. im confused by the fuse you are speaking of... you are saying there is a fuse that controls the fuse box?????

In that box, the main 80A fuse protect the entire system. Next to is should be four 30 to 40 amp fuses that feeds sections of the fuse box, that contains the smaller amp fuses, located in the cabin.

One of these larger fuses could be open that is to the cabin light, or the assigned fuse that runs the dome light could just have a loose connection in the socket, and a slight bending of the fuse leg might help the connection be tighter .... or it could be the door switch itself as above mentioned.

ok, thanks... i will check this weekend hopefully ... the weather right now is terrible so no electrical work for me haha..

for the 80A ... is that suppose to be the alt fuse? cause i could have sworn that the fuse you're speaking of is an 100A fuse.. this is a 2g if that matters

You're right, I'm thinking 1G. 2G's got the bigger 100A fuse. Everything else till holds the same.

Even though your car is a 95, i was able to search through the 97-99 service manual and look at wiring for fuse list. The "Room Lamp" fuse is listed as #11 with a 10 Amp fuse and this following list of items run through this fusible link:
Auto-cruise-ECU (battery back up)
dome light,
door-ajar warning light,
ELC4-speed automatic trans-axle control module (battery backup)
engine control module (battery backup)
ETACS-ECU, foot light,ignition key hole illumination light, luggage compartment light, motor antenna, radio, receiver, scan tool power source, theft-alarm system, vanity mirror light, and universal garage door opener.

Its a long list but you will have to check wiring with items listed above. There has to be a wire that is shorting to ground to keep blowing the fuse. Try to disable function of some of these devices to narrow down the issue. There are short circuit finders that use an ammeter to point in direction of short as well using the multimeter.
