i hear knocking in my engine but its not constant. i only hear it when i reach about 2500-3000RPM's so if i drive softly and shift near 2500RPM's i will rarely hear the knocking. I added STP oil additive in hopes it will fix my problem,. Is the problem my bearings or rods, or neither?

Possibly a rod bearing.

Post up a video of the sound if you can, that will make it a lot easier to identify.

It's hard to tell from that video, but drain your oil and see if you find any metal flakes or glittery stuff in it. You can also pull the oil pan and inspect them.

its more then likely a rod knock. . time for a rebuild. . no amount of oil additive can save you or fix it. . all that stuff is just junk. . if have bad bearing how is some liquid going to replace the babit or tang the (metal part) on the bearing??
