i know some one in the race scene must know about this. ok well i just got another dsm a 95 awd talon when i got it it was running like shit worked on it got it running beautifully then i was out at the races. half ways down in third gear i'm about to hi red line and the car kindof seemed like it hit rev limitor but it knoked like the governor would then the car compleatly died and it's still not turning on cheked all fuses all are good anyone have any idea what it could be ???

how would fule cut keep it from turning on?? yeah when your running hit fule cut and it would do that i have that happen many times with my gst but it never turned off like that and its still not turnig on

Not turning on or not starting up? If it is not turning on then you have an electrical problem, if it is not starting then you damaged something by constantly bouncing off fuel cut. Just because the car keeps you from blowing it up does not mean you should bounce it off fuel cut constantly, it will result in something bad happening.

nah u got me wrong i just got this car and i had just inised fixing it got it running good and i took it out for a race i had never bounced it off fuel cut or any thing like that and i know the person before me didnt eiter cause it cae from a girl i know so the car was babied now i'm almost sure its an electrical but what electrical is what i wana know can the fule cut sensr et stuck or the govenor????i'm going nuts tring to igure out whats wrong with this car it ####ing weird!! i neer had this proble with any other car not even my race cars

If it were fuel cut it would still run. Does it crank over at all if so are you getting spark and fuel thats the first thing to check.

yeah all electrical seems to work and it didnt make any noise at all, all it did was bump like fuel cut would do or the govenor it bumped and turned off i was still doing about 90 so i put it back in gear but nothing no rpm or n e thing

Distributor cap? Umm...that's on a honda. DSM=coil packs. How high did you rev it?

sorry about mixing up my honda gramer with my dsm. we all amek mistakes but i rev. it to about 6900

Can't be the rev limiter then. Stock 4G63T is set at 7500RPMs. 8000RPMs with stand-alone.

i kinda doubted that it was the rev limitor because it wouldnt make it bump like it did oly time i felt that bump before was on my honda when i hit the govenor or something like it when i hit fule cut on my other dsm

Even though the fuses are in tact. I'd check the bolt-in wires that stem from the engine, and altenator fuse. If they are still on, then I'd check those those wires as far back as possible. Cover all your areas if need be. I.E. battery, battery connections.

When you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump if you do then i would say that it is your main ignition relay or fuse under the hood shit out.

PS> Does that starter try at all either.

The fact it doesn't turn over really bothers me with this, no sound when it happend too...hhmm, maybe with all the noise at the track, you missed something sound-wise? O.k., so you have power, but the engine won't turn over right? I have some idea's, but am afraid to give the wrong suggestions. Maybe a wiseman will chime in here and give us some pearls of wisdom...

no there was no noise i was not at the track we were racing down sr9 long straight at like 2 am i would of heard it and yes i do hear the fuel pump. does any think timing belt migth have anything to do with this????

If your timing belt broke, you'd probably have heard the pistons beating the crap out of your valves.

Do you hear the starter solenoid kicking in? Does the motor turn over but not light or does it not even turn over?

And you shouldn't be street racing.

6900 rpms it shouldve been fine, especially since u got these guys at here raping there cars at 7500 and above rpms, i wouldnt dare rev mines past 7300 since its a everyday driver and not every often either. But you said you dont get on it like that much.... it had to be something coming loose somewhere, and u checkd all ## fuses, even the one undre the hood?. And if you didnt hear any noise you most likely didnt blow nothin. Do you get any power at all when you turn the key, then youd kno it wasnt ignition or battery. If you got power then maybe even try to check all ## ecu connections, or even unplug the battery and plug it back in maybe it could rest sometihn on the ecu. And even check if your ecu capacitors are leaking , but really its odd i never heard of what your sayen.get a fuse tester and something you can test electrical current in all your wires. Probably somethin shorted, ### my system tends to short for no reason sometimes and i wuoldnt be doin nothin but driven. therefore it mightve done it reguardless even though you was wompin 3rd gear. iduno

I'm haveing trouble understanding what does or does not work. With a test light connected to ground test the large lead on the back of the Alternator. If you have light then the main 100 amp fuse or fusable link to the key is good.

You need a 3' long piece of #12 wire, crimp a female spade terminal on this, skin the other end. Remove the "S" connector from the Starter Solenoid, small wire, plug your female spade onto this male spade on the solenoid. Touch the bare wire to the Positive Battery (+), starter must spin and engine must crank. You can do a compression test with this and don't need the key on, do not forget to hold the throttle wide open when taking the compression. Do take 3 complete compressions for each cylr.

If no crank then you have a starter problem or engine is locked up. If Yes, then you have blown fuse(s), bad relay, open circuit to the "start" position on the key _IF_ all other dash lights are normal.

Let us know what you find and then we can develop other tests.

Cheers,
GTM

ok i'll check all these things and i'll let you guys know what happens thanks for the help

^^^See? When one of the Wisemen enters the thread, things seem to get moving along in the right direction. Thanks GTM!

The down side to this job is never hearing back from the poster what they found and leads to the fix. You rack your brain, throw out the fluff and try to come up with some basics. The other bummer is when you know you are on the right track but the poster listens to their buddies and having them looking in the wrong places for a couple of weeks then report back as if you had never said anything. "You buy 'em books, send them to school and all they do is eat the covers." Said in jest and good humor please. If I didn't care I wouldn't be here.

You are welcome.

Cheers,
GTM

it does not crank over at all and plugs, distributor cap and rotor and new

I recommend that you take your counterfeit DSM back.

no real DSM has a distributor, rotor, cap etc.

you said it wont turn over at all?

What is the battery voltage? does anything else work in the car at all?

You next mod should be hooked on Phonics and Hooked on grammar.
