so i gotta act 2600 PP and disk sittin in my garage that came outta my gsx originally... about 8 months ago... i swapped it to a AUTO VALUE PP and disk.. and had napa step my flywheel.. and now i got my car goin again.. and it slips like a mofo.. the only reason i took it out was cause i thought it was the reason my car wouldn't shift right... (now i have a jacks tranny) and it shifts like butter.. .melted butter... and now it slips like a mofo.. so i got a few questions..

does anyone have any experience with auto value clutches slippin real bad???

has anyone had any experience with their clutch slippin real bad after lettin it sit for 8-9 months from rust build up??

does this pressure plate and disk look okay to use.. or just the PP or... what/??.. could i get away with reusing the Plate and just buying a new disk.. .

and if so.. i have the old style PP and the old disk.. can i still get a disk to match my plate if so??

thanks guys... i searched... no info about this specific info...

just wirre brush the pressure plate and buy a new disk or use the one thats new in your car.as for your gears being hard to shift try bleeding the clutch.if that doesnt do it try adjusting the clutch foot pedal.

depending on the extent of rust just sand it off the pressure plate, or use steel wool, once it is fairly smooth the clutch disc will eventually clean it the rest of the way off after its installed. A little sanding will not ruin the pp.

i contemplated that too... but i thought i'd go have it checked AGAIN... when i change it out.. i just got my jacks tranny in with evo gears... and my car is finally runnin right... i mean bad ass again.. and i'm not about to just let it sit here again... i just got to drive it for the first time in 9 months... so i'm just wantin to slap my act on there.. I KNOW IT CLAMPS.. and have the fly wheel checked again... was wondering if the clutch disks have a load bearing weight maximum.. or they all built pretty stout.. is the the pressure plate that makes the main difference? .. or will the clutch disk just blow apart if i use the auto value one... ???

they're local .. and i'm a mechanic here... but this is my personal play toy.. so i just thought i'd get some other opinions from fellow dsmers... thanks guys... so i was pretty sold on the step height being incorrect... so i'm a check it myself... and i still wanna put my act back in to make sure its clampin good and hard..

Yeah step height is the key if off by a little you will have lots of issues. Also, I would definetley put in the auto value disc with the ACT pp. Just make sure the fingers are good ie. not hot or cracked. Then at least you will be able to launch without a full driveline shock.

thanks mang.... i'm thinkin thats goanna b my route ... thanks for the info guys.. and the opinions...

so turns out AUTO VALUE clutch kits are made by SACHS... a pretty reasonable auto company from my experience... so i'd have to say ... either the guys there gave me a FWD clutch kit for the 4g63t or my step height is wrong.. i'm sayin a little bit of both... so i'll post up what happened when i get her sorted out...
