Ok here's the question.

I have a '92 Laser RS. Just did a engine swap and replaced the clutch. After the swap I found that I also need a Clutch "slave" (on order) and now I also noticed that at about 5000 RPM the clutch seems to slip.

Now I only have about 100 miles on this clutch.

Is this normal?

The issue showed up after clutch replacement before doing slave. The slave gets done this weekend..

did you resurface the flywheel? and is it a clutch kit with a new pressure plate, is the PP bolts torqued/locktite? if the clutch is slipping at 5k rpm's while passing somebody is definitely not normal. either the flywheel isn't properly machined to match the pressure plate mounting points or a couple of the pressure plate bolts broke or got loose. causing it to slip in higher rpms. there is no clutch adjustment necessary for doing a stock clutch. now if your not fully disengaging/slipping properly while shifting then it's your slave/air in system (hydraulic problem).

I did a new flywheel, new clutch kit. All was torqued to spec. Maybe after the slave is replaced this weekend all will be well again.

You may have got oil on your clutch/flywheel/pp while doing the install. Check your inspection cover for oil leaks and oil. When my brand new clutch/flywheel/pp was slipping it was caused by my input shaft seal leaking tranny fluid all over it.

This same problem happened with my 2g talon and it was this cylinder got air in it and i couldn't get it out, the way to go is to get a stainless steel braided clutch line and the problem should go away. But then again the 1g might not have the cylinder.

I'll look into that as well...

Just seems kinda odd that before the motor swap the clutch worked but would grind going into first. So I decided to replace while motor was out. Now it's just sucks..
