Wow, lot's of different opinions here...

I saw the car at the show and didn't realize what it was. I figured it was just a concept turbo V6. It looked nice. But I seriously doubt that anything like that will ever make it to production, especially in turbo AWD form. Not with Mitsu in its current financial state. Unless that car will be the savior of the company, which I seriously doubt, there is no chance.

However, while reading the opinion that the 4G63 has done all it can do and is outdated - tell that to GM. They've been using the same small block motor for just about everything forever. Sure, it's changed over time, but it still has the same roots, and has proven to be successful for the company. Even the new Z06 uses old school technology and blows away almost every other production car on the road. It doesn't matter if the design becomes a little dated. If it's a good design and works efficiently, it will last a long time. Especially for a company who can't afford more R&D. If it works, it works. And Mitsu probably won't (and shouldn't) get caught up in the big displacement battle. Turbos level the playing field and keep gas mileage where it should be. If anything, they need to figure out how to make a lighter car so that torque isn't such a big issue.

Back on topic - I like this concept car. But if it doesn't make it to market in turbo AWD form (which I'm sure it won't), what does it matter? Cars like this are nice to dream about, but they don't sell that well and few who want them can afford them. This car would probably cost at least $35k+. How many DSMers can afford that? Everyone else will go buy a better (or more practical) car for that money. It wouldn't even be around long enough for us to learn about the build quality. Hey, at least it looks nice. That's worth something these days with all the ugly ass designs that are coming out.

I guess I'll be holding off on the Evo. Unfortunately, like others have said people would tend to jump into the DSM bandwagon when it comes out. I said when because I got a strong feeling that it would be coming out by the end of next year as an '07 model. I remembered talking to one of the engineers at MOD when asked about the return of the GSX, he just gave that funny smile with the hint that its coming up soon. Anyway, since I worked only a block away from Mitsu in Cypress, hopefully I'll catch to see this in person and jack it :sneaky:

i don't know about you guys but i will be at MOD O6 :thumb: with my camara ready and asking when to order that thing if it ever goes into production..... but i ask myself how in the hell am i gonna pay for a Evo X and a GSX Eclipse at the same time :sosad:

that car is just so hot i really hope it comes into production as much as i hate putting payments on a car i would do it for that tuned GSX :dsm: :thumb:

Some people are saying that this would ruin Mitsubishi's sales. Aren't they pretty close to ruin already? It might be worth the risk for Mitsubishi to build something that isn't an also-ran.

October was one of the worst months in sales history for the entire industry. It was the sharpest decline since like 1992 across the board. Only three companies actually posted a year to year increase in sales. The gain was slight for one of the companies - a little over 1 percent, but this was in sharp contrast to the double digit losses suffered by other brands, particularly the domestics.

That was Mitsubishi.

holly s.....
4g63 might be back? with awd...

that would be a dream come true for lots of ppl

its a sick ass car, but will never be anything more than a concept sadly :(

don't forget that mitsubishi is a global player. mitsubishi wrote black numbers for the 1st time since the last 10 years in germany. not with the evo (the VIII was about 38500 EUR here in germany), but with the new colt (turbo), the outlander (turbo) and the grandis.

if they are sure, that this car will be bought by a lot of enthusiasts, then they will throw it on the market. for sure!
