[RESOLVED] Power windows go down when car is off???

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

That happens in my 98 Accord; the window switches have power for about a minute or two after turning the key to 'Off'. Doesn't happen on my DSM though.

Ya it does it on my 05' F150 to, but when I open the door it stops/shuts off. I opened the door, shut the door and locked it,opened it back up and it still did it. I am just worried it might drain my bat. Other than that it doesnt bother me.
I guess ill find out when I go back to work in a few min.

It's normal, but if it still happens after the delayed time the previous owner might have jumped the window relay keeping it always on.

i wouldn't be concerned with this draining the battery, as long as the car doesn't sit for an extended period of time.

as long as the window motor isn't running (switch activated) it won't draw current from the battery.

i wouldn't worry about it:thumb:

The power windows remain functional for 20-30 seconds after the key has been turned off and before you open a door. This is controlled by the ETACS; while I've never heard of one failing, most I have encountered have had very inaccurate timers.

The power may have also been jumped by a previous owner. There is a tech article here (I believe by luv2rallye) covering how to do it.

This condition is not normal if functional beyond a minute or so, or with the key off and the door open.
