Alright It's official....I am an IDIOT! The day looked beutifull so I cracked the sunroof and my windows before I went off with a buddy to watch a movie. I leave the theater and its POURING. When I get home my car is drenched inside all over. The carpets and ceiling are still wet but i got everything else. The only problem now is my radio doesnt work. When I was at my buddies house the radio would turn on but all i would hear were crackles in the speakers. Now that I get home all I get is a back light but no display or any sound on the radio. I know the water shorted something but Im thinking its probably water that got to the amp underneath the seat? Could water getting to the amp cause this? And what does the amp have to do with actually powering the radio, I get not digital numbers or anything......just an orange backlight. Thanks......HELP.

Just let everything dry out first. Electronics will work after being wet and dried again :)

Park your car in a garage if possible (so you don't do it again, hehe), and leave the doors/sunroof open, and possibly aim an electric heater inside the car. That should take care of any residual water still left in it.

Then give it another go.

Otherwise, you might need to take your stereo out of the car and dry it out.

He should say there is a possibility that the amp wasn't damaged permanently by the water, but there's also a very good chance since you tried to power it that the internals were damaged by shorts created from the water. He's right though that it doesn't hurt to give it a try... take the amp out and let it dry and then give it a shot.
