hey everyone. i recently put a full 3" turbo back exhaust on my 91 talon. along with this i installed my boost gauge and manual boost controller. the only other thing i have is intercooler piping. anyways after the install my cars boost spikes up way past 16 psi. i havent let it go farther than 16 but it will deff do it. the boost controller is turned all the way down. how can i lower this, or what could be the problem

Did you do a vac line elimination? Is your wastegate actuator not opening?

i t'd into the line that goes from the intake manifold to the bypass valve. then a line from that T to my boost controller. then another line from the wastegate to the other plug on the boost controller. and my boost gauge is T'd into a line that goes from the intake manifold to one of the censors on the top right of the firewall

OMG what the hell is up with Teeing in everything, no disrespect but you have overboost because of the ways you tied stuff in, i can barely understand how you did it and i know its not right.

1. Restore everything you just did.
2. Run a Vacuum line from your j-pipe or intercooler pipe closest to the turbo, if there not a spot on your turbo for a vacuum line, drill a hole into your j-pipe and tap a Q sized bit and go get a barbed fiting and a tap and screw that new vac line fitting in.
3. Run a new vac/boost line from your j-pipe fitting you made right to your wastegate.
4. Run your boost gauge line straight from your manifold or tee'd off of a good boost source, dont try to tee and tee. just keep to single line runs

I followed a whole forum on the install of boost gauges and contollers. i know the boost gauge is right. so you cant tell me it doesnt make sense at all when it comes straight from the forums.

Key thing, you put on a 3 inch free flowing exhaust. What you are experiencing is boost creep like Calan stated. Spike is when you boost and your psi goes say from your set 15psi to 22psi but will drop back down to 15psi. Boost creep is when your exhaust is flowing very well that when the wastegate opens, the amount of exhaust leaving is less than what is flowing past the exhaust wheel causing you to constantly build more and more boost. Either port the turbo or go external.

Eliptical is right though. Your MBC should have the shortest lines possible i.e. run from the compressor cover or j-pipe right to the wastegate actuator. Boost can be teed from the brake booster. Selonoid next to the brake resivore.

alright i changed the boost controller so its hooked up to the j pipe and wastegate. i figured out the problem to. i had the boost controller completely closed. once i opened it and let some air through my boost was fine except its only going to 8 psi no matter how much i turn it up... not sure why
