The car has been running great and now it has started over heating, It is fine while driving but soon as you come to a red light it starts to get hot.. I have never had this problem before so I'm not sure what could be causing it.

could be alot of things.
air in coolant system, thermostat, pressure leak, ripped hoses

take the radiator cap off and check if the coolant is recirculating first

Take a look at the fan and see if both fans are on (radiator and AC). If the fan is an issue, check the relays to make sure they are still working correctly. I just had to deal with this issue recently with my Diamante, and it think I narrowed it down to a fan sensor. So I just bypass the sensor and have the fans running all the time.

for a temporary answer to your problem try turning on the heater, it usually brings down the temperature. but if i was you id get the thermostat changed.on my old eclipse it was something so small like a new radiator cap. you can get one for like 5 bucks at kragen. i had the same problem as you. let me know if it works.

Well turns out that it was the raditor cap I replaced it and now everything is fine. Coolant level is slightly low but im going to fill it up later today.
