I am in the process of upgrading my turbo, exhaust mani etc. Needless to say I hit a brick wall :banghead:. The coolant return line is stuck, the bolt is stripped. I have tried wd-40 on the thread dozens of times. I even tryed to file down the surface of the bolt. Right now it is the only thing keeping me from cleaning and installing all the new parts.

Does anybody have any Ideas on what I should try next?

Thanks in advance!

*Resolved* I used a propane torch and a vice to get it off.

Vice grips and a small propane torch!

Thanks for the Idea. Ill have to try that out, Ive been going at it with vice grips and wd-40 with no success. Heck I even bought a set of Craftsmen Bolt out, all its done is strip it even more...

If there is still some material left to get a socket onto, what you will want to do is cut the line as close to the fitting as possible. Then use a 17mm 6 point on a 3/8 drive ratchet, a cheater pipe may help. Heat would also help here.

In the past when the above method hasn't worked for me I was able to remove the coolant pipe from the car and put the fitting in a bench vise and spin the pipe off the fitting.

The vise grip method is good too. Also from past experience, if you were wrenching on that fitting the o-ring going into the water pump is most likely compromised and will need to be replaced.
