Dripping oil return line

So ive had an oil leak from the turbo oil return line since ive had the car. Nothing major, about 5-6 drips after driving. Its not so much an issue with something breaking, but its actually really annoying. Now from what ive been told I have a 16g turbo on it, still trying to find the part number to take a picture of it. Now ive tightened down the bolts on the return line, but its still dripping. So now im guessing its the oil return line gasket. Ive looked and looked and I cannot find anywhere local that has one, or anything near that size. Any ideas?

Do you still have the solid line/pipe?

Yes, it looks like a stock oil line with the circular coiling on the outside of it.

You need crush washers on the bolts that hold the return line to the pan. You can buy a turbo gasket set at Advance auto parts that will come with the gaskets, but you still need the washers, or oil will continue to seep past the threads.

Ah.. I hadnt thought about the threads being the things leaking. Good point, ill go to AAP and see if they have one available.

I forgot to mention that its leaking from the turbo side, not the block side.

And to any further problems all together, spend the 15 bucks and get a good oil resistant hose and just run the hose instead of the line. Kinda like this but more legit, this is just off of google.

wow that really does look like a professional job.. said no one.. ever. Lmao, that looks like straight up shit. What did he do? just hack-saw the middle portion of the tube and use a hose? then RTV the ends?

The turbo side holes do not go all the way through, so no washers are needed up there. Just change the gasket. Whenever I buy those gasket sets from Advance, they have to order it. You have the part #, so you can search around your area for one in stock if you want it now.

Those washers look like they would cause a leak; they should be flat, not slotted lock washers. Besides the fact that part offers a flimsy silicone hose, and four aditional connections that can presumably leak.

I'll keep my non leaking solid one piece metal return line thank you very much.

Im not saying that ebay kit exactly, but that style. Yes I agree those would leak but if he can find a good kit, I know extremepsi makes a good kit for cheap. It fixed all of my problems. I daily drive my car and that solid line over everyday bumps and hard launches, cracks once in a while so I went to a style like this and never had the problem again.

You want looks or no leaks?

this is the cheapest way to fix your issue an can be done more cleanly. Both of my old cars had the rubber.

Actually, turns out it was the oil feed line that leaking. There were scoring marks on the center housing where the oil feed line meets the turbo, so i ended up getting the extreme psi oil feed kit (was like $45 shipped) and had to get a different threaded plug because the one they gave me didnt fit my turbo. But after all was said and done it plugged the leak, runs like a champ now
