Ok I recently did a 6 bolt build. I checked out the oil pump when I built the motor and it looked good. now its in the car and I am trying to prime the pump. Timing belt is off and I am using my drill motor right on the pump gear.

Question is how long before I see oil up in the head? Also does it matter which way I set the drill to turn?

I have spun the sh!t out of it and I see no oil up in the head!!! HELP!

Don't bump your own threads. As stated in your other thread, it took me a couple of minutes of spinning (clockwise) to build pressure. Just fill the block with the standard amount of oil and spin away (may take up to 5 mintes) using a high speed drill or impact. The reason I say high speed is because I used a small 3/8" ratchet to spin the pump first and it didn't do anything, after I used the impact it built pressure right up.

ok, check it. I dropped the oil pan and put a container of oil around the oil pickup. Spun the sprocket and noticed Oil sucking up immediately. Because I dont have a oil pan on I had to stop right away. I did notice a large dent in the bottom of the oil pan, might this be blocking the pickup? How much room is there from the bottom of the pickup to the oil pan inside?

OK, figured it out!

Looks like it was a dent on the bottom of the oil pan that did it. Once I dropped it and punched it back out it now pumps to the head!!! yea... now lets put it all back together and work on the next issue. :D
