So im 17 and my dad is like 45 and still living in the muscle car era so he knows very little about modern cars. Along with that, he knows nothing mechanically about cars, just how to do $8000 paint jobs and interior.

So can someone explain to me what is the difference between a 6 bolt and 7 bolt? and which is the better one if there is one.

And sometimes it gets abit confusing maybe because it seems like alot of parts are interchangeable but 1g = 90-94 and 2g = 95-99, correct?

That Link will have your answer to the difference between a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt engine in DSM's. Also, If you use the search tool in forums you could probably find your answer very easily..

90-94 Are Firs Generation, Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi Eclipse (1G) 6bolt Engine, 90-early 92, mid 92-94 7bolt Engine
95-98 Are Second Generation, Eagle Talon(2G) 7bolt Engine
95-99 Are Second Generation, Mitsubishi Eclipse(2G) 7bolt Engine

The link I provided will explain the differences of 1GA/1GB, 2GA/2GB

Am I missing anything to all you other DSM genius's??

Mid year of 92 they switched to the 7 bolt engine.
