whats a 6-bolt and 7-bolt? ive heard it being thrown around alot not sure wut i meens. which ones do 1g and 2g come stock with? whats the difference between the two? thanks :)

6 bolts came in the 1g's and 2g's came with the 7 bolt, but they switched the 1g's to 7bolt after mid 92. your lucky to find the 6/4 comb (6 bolt motor with 4 bolt rear LSD) the 6 bolts are stronger in many places but the 95 7 bolts have better pistons, Many people with 2g's on here do 6 bolt swaps and use 2g pistons on big 1g rods. Another thing you'll find on this site is the word crankwalk wich is more common in 7 bolts then 6 but it can happen to any motor and dont let that effect your decision if your looking for a car as long as its had up keep on it. :thumb:

Also forgot to add that some of the 95's came with Eprom ECU's wich are a must for DSMlink

*edit* Link wasn't working so...
What is a 6-bolt engine?
What is a 7-bolt engine?
A 6-bolt engine is one that has a 6-bolt flywheel - that is, there are 6 bolts holding the flywheel to the crankshaft. A 7-bolt motor has 7 bolts there.
Along with the flywheel change, there are many other internal changes between the two engines. The crankshafts are different sizes, as are the rods and crankshaft seals. 6-bolt motors have 'big' rods, while 7-bolt engines have 'small' rods. The journal and bearing widths different, although the bearing diameters are the same.
There may also be other changes between the two engines, and the parts are not interchangeable. *edit*

1gs are 6-bolts and 2g are 7-bolts, although I think that there were some 1g 7-bolts...I could be wrong though.

*edit* You beat me to it Spooling! *edit*
