6 bolt or 7 bolt?

whats up everybody, im new to the site, i recently bought a 95 eagle talon tsi fwd rolling chassis.
im trying to find a good engine set up for it.
i hear a lot of bad things about 7 bolt engines, but for my experience level, idk if im up to a swap yet.

im basically trying to gather up as much information as possible right now. im leaning towards the 7 bolt because its pretty much straight forward.

all the car needs is an engine, a clutch, and a battery

any advice would be highly appreciated!

Twicks69 is planning on making close to 900hp this season with a 7 bolt. Evos are 7 bolts and make 1000+hp. You won't be breaking the 7 bolt any time soon. It used to be that dropping in a stock 6 bolt bottom end was a cheap upgrade, but the cost of 6 bolts and the parts for the swap is making it easier to just rebuild a 7 bolt with forged parts. A forged 7 bolt will handle more power, more reliably than a stock 6 bolt.

what about 2g 7bolts. has anyone actually seen one crankwalk from overpower?

i rally the hell out of my 7bolt, its in a 1g, the guy before me swapped it in.

A 7 bolt rebuilt correctly will be just as good as a 6 bolt. Tons of others have proven this fact.

I have only seen or heard of just a few that crankwalked. Crankwalk is WAY overrated, most think they have crankwalk or had it, but most just might have spun bearings.

my friend has a 2g gsx, it had like 203xxx on it, it Burnt up an exhaust valve before anything happened to the crank.

Honestly whichever one comes first in your hands and whichever one is cheaper, other than that its all preference.

You can get a quality 7-bolt from Overbore,com. That's where I got mine, and it's been a great engine. The original had about 3/8" of crankwalk. I was mashing the crank pulley into the chassis when I pushed in the clutch.
