6 bolt or 7 bolt?

how do you distinguish between a 7 bolt and 6 bolt with takeing the trans or crank out????

One of the only and for sure ways is the oil pan, does it bump out or in at the crank pully?
Another way is if it has a 2g intake manifold, good indicator, but not always. Or a CAS.
