The only talon in my area that is what I'm looking for right now has it's driveshaft out and needs a new tranny. I was wondering how hard it would be to first just put the driveshaft in and drive home or to a shop (and how long that would take). How hard would it be to replace the tranny and put the driveshaft back in (and how long). If someone can find a relevant faq that would help. I couldn't find one. I have access to alot of tools and a mechanic for a brother who might help me if I bribe him. Also what do you think about the price/ how good of a deal is it?

"Also have a 91'eagle talon awd turbo, converted to a 92'front end has new jdm motor with big 16g 3"exhaust boost controller, ,boost gauge and 17" rims. has a rattle can paint job, no dents, and fairly new tan leather interior. --needs a new brake line, serpintine belts, and tires to be perfect. also the drive shaft is out of the car, the transmission needs to be swaped, you get new tranny with price $2500 o.b.o"

First off i don't reccomend you drive that car anywhere until you fix the "brake Line" problem... Also you should find out whats wrong with the transmission that is inside the car now.. The level of difficulty really depends on your mechanical experience. If it is your first time taking out the transmission it may take you a full day with all the tools ready... I would reccomend checking the clutch for excessive wear when the transmission is off so you can replace it if need be and save money in the long run. Make sure to use jackstands and a jack to drop/lift the transmission. Does not feel too good lying underneath with the tranny on top of u and you are trying to get it into place. trust me. The deal it self to me is so/so.. I think my biggest turn off is the rattle can job. try to lower the price to around the 2k mark and then it will be good to go. good luck with your decision

What I'm really looking for is something that's mechanically almost perfect, and has a body that needs work thus giving it a lower price (so I can afford it). Most of my experience is bodywork, and interior things like gauges and audio. The only serious experience I have is when we rebuilt my cars engine ourselves. I have no problem spending a day under a car I was just wondering if it's something I really need to of had previous experience to do or will a repair manual be enough. My brother CAN help me but doesn't seem to like talons for some reason so I'm not expecting much help.

The only other car in my area that has what I want (91-91 talon tsi awd) is this http://www.gopartstrader.com/cgi-bi...s=Talon&criteria=any&session=42effb842d04c654
his ebay auction under Q&A says that he has driven the car to and from Austin several times but with bad rings I'd think that would be hurting the engine. Also if the engine was just rebuilt why the hell are the rings bad? The only thing I can think of is he launched one day and destroyed the clutch and "misc items".

Just noticed the one that needs the new piston rings has it's battery held in with a bungie cord. Just the parts to fix what he has listed is about $120-250 depending on what all is bad and if it needs new gaskets. Thats assuming that it doesn't need to be rehoned after he has driven it so far with problems.
