tommrow i'm gonna replace my tranny fluid and was wondering if there is anything i should know besides the basics like what's the best way to drain/ put the fluid in.

all u need is 75w90 gear oil 4 1/2 quarts i believe it is. And i would get a hose u can stick into the tranny and put the funnel on the other end to fill it the best, thats what i do. Makes life easier.

I'm not sure if this is the same for the 2g's, but on my 92, there is a plastic panel right by the drain plug. Use something (I used a large hammer) to push it away so the old fluid doesn't hit it and go everywhere. Just a tip I've picked up on. Good luck.

wtf dumb ass auto zone people cant look up shit right. i bought way to much. Cuz i thought alot ran out when i quit putting it in and let it flow out of the full plug until it stoped. So much for trusting them anymore Idiots. :notgood:

4.5 quarts is what you need when you change the engine oil and filter

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe transaxle oil comes in pints. Also, I would reccomend using a high quality synthetic in a manual. Every article I've ever read reccomends it and I am using it now. I can't say if it is the fluid or my new TRE synchros but it shifts like a dream, aside from the shifter cable my g/f broke  BG Synchroshift II, Redline and Royal purple are all purported to be excellent.

Yeh. Read what we think of nice, cheap Pennzoil Synchromesh on this board.
