I've on day 3 and finally got the Trans off however trying to remove the rear main seal it does not seem to be coming out very easy ( duh LOL ) but I was curious if anyone has any suggestions to help me out.

Ive tried using picks but with no success. ( trying to be careful not to scratch up the side walls or surfaces.)

Best way to do it is to remove the whole rear seal housing and remove the seal that way. Plus, you can reseal the housing at the same time since they're usually weeping by the time the seal goes. Just use Mitsubond or Ultra Grey or Black RTV and make sure to get some on the bottom where it meets the oil pan...

I may just do that, My oil pan is beat up... previous owners did not treat this poor car well at all.

Just unbolt the entire housing and go from there. I think a new housing and seal isn't a whole ton of money, been a while since I replaced one.

Ultra grey is what I suggest.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I was able to get the seal removed and new one installed.
Cleaned out the Bell housing, replaced the Throw out Bearing and cleaned and greased Fork. Put in the Clutch just gotta mount Tranny and start re-bolting stuff.

New Issue LOL

What type of Transmission fluid do i put in?

I have a guide from advance auto parts but after reviewing stuff I found on the net I am kinda at a wall.

From what i've been reviewing plus my mechanic told me was already in there was gear oil so going to just get
Valvoline SynPower 75W-90 Full Synthetic Gear Oil (1 Quart)

Yes GS N/t and from what I was told AFT is for automatics not manual (again what I was told) and I guess what was already in there was gear oil..

Thank you all,

Update: Got Engine and Tranny back on the mounts and self supporting. Working on getting everything else hooked back up.
