Here is my situation! My friend "built me a six bolt and forgot to put the rear main seal on.. :ohdamn: Can i use a 7bolt on my 6bolt? As of right now the engine is in the car with the transmission attached. How do I install it? I'm guessing, Drop transmission (Not sure how with 5speed) and unbolt the flywheel and THEN put the seal on with a new gasket? Any info will help my situation! Thanks - James

I believe the 6 bolt seal is different than the 7 bolt. To install it you must drop the transmission and remove the clutch and flywheel, unbolt the housing where the seal sits and pound/ pry it out. Then press the new one in, making sure that it sticks out of the housing just a little bit (not flush) so that it seals perfect when putting it in. Doesn't take long once the tranny is out.
Good Luck
Mark
