HELP! I lost ALL the keys to my Talon, WHAT CAN I DO NOW? I am illegal parked, at a festival. Finding out the Tower, is gonna be a nightmare, I am in germany, can't speak a lick of german and there is no indication of whose property I am parked on. How can I get another set of keys.

With the windows having been left down just enough I was able to get the car unlocked. Didn't account for the alarm, though.

Unhooked the positive terminal on the battery to shut her up after I got in, then went to work.

I tried just about everything and couldn't get the lock out on my own. The bottom portion of the window just covered the lock, and I come to find out that the driver side lock didn't even have the numbers I needed.

I eventually had a locksmith come by and I helped him fab me up two purty new keys.

Thanks for your quick responses and helpful advice. I'll be more careful in the future.

I only have one key and im afraid I'll lock myself out one of these days. So all I need is a vin and a trip to the dealership? Anyone know how much mitsu charges for a new key?

Go to a locksmith's shop and have them cut you a few more. Always carry two, in separate pockets.

Well I just finished re-building my 2.0 turbo and I cannot find my keys for the car! I think that my little brother took them because I had them sitting in the front seat. Anyways what should I do? can I just replace the lock cylinder? or do I need the keys to do that also?
Brad :notgood:

Just kidding. You can replace the cylinder, however your going to have to replace the door and rear hatch cylinders too if you want to lock and unlock your car. Maybe go to the dealer w/ the Vin number and see what they can do.

I was helping another person with the same issue and the person said the dealer was unable (I suspect unwilling) to help with the vin number though I was able to duplicate a set through a Chrysler dealer about 4 years ago. The person ended up paying $120 for a lock smith to make a house call. I would try calling different dealers before you fork out the $100+. Good luck.

Yeah, I would say check with the dealer first. And yes you can replace the cylinder. When I brought my first dsm, it came with one key for the doors and rear hatch, and one key for the ignition. I got tired of using two keys so I took my car to a locksmith, and they change the lock cylinder and matched it to the keys to the doors.

So yes you can change the cylinder. If I were you that is what I would do.

you can get a new key through mitsubishi with your VIN number.... i knew a guy that had to do that on his way home buying a new car only key on him he lost his key when he stopped to get something to eat :)

You can for sure go to mistsubishi dealership all you need is id and proof of ownership. i dont think they charge more than 80 dollars to do it!!! :dsm:

k so i lost the key to my car. the problem is its a 1991, so there is no key code. I was told to take the passenger window lock out and take it in to a locksmith and they will get a key made. heres my problem. the window is down and i cannot get the lock out with the window down. can i take the hatch lock out and get it keyed that way? or is there anything specific on the passenger lock thats needed?

(havn't been inside the doors either) but you should be able to hook 12V power up to the windows and possibly roll it up? just splice the wire that is going to the window button and add a 12V + source to it (run a line from your battery) then push the button and it should go up. then when your done make sure you put some electrical tape around it or sumin to keep it insolated so your not blowing fueses.

I don't understand why you have no way of getting the window up to get the passenger lock out. Are the window switches broken or what? The key design for the trunk should be the same as the passenger lock so I don't see why the locksmith would have a problem matching them if you brought the hatch lock in.

you could also try to do it yourself.. i watched a locksmith make a key for one of my cars here is how he did it:

get a keyblank
file the edges down(so they are softer) so impressions can be made
put the key in the door turn it back and forth
use a triangular file and file the spots where the impressions were made
