HELP! I lost ALL the keys to my Talon, WHAT CAN I DO NOW? I am illegal parked, at a festival. Finding out the Tower, is gonna be a nightmare, I am in germany, can't speak a lick of german and there is no indication of whose property I am parked on. How can I get another set of keys.

Call the dealer, explain the ownership situation, and ask. Worst would be that they say "no", and you would have to have your sister get the copy cut.

Information on how to hot-wire a DSM I believe does not belong on this board. With that said, an electrical diagram of the ignition switch would provide all the information needed to start a car without a key. (and without pulling the ignition cylinder.)

I still recommend explaining the situation to a dealer (or two) and having a key cut for you that way.

They will cut a key based off your VIN. My friend did this when he locked his only key in the car. I think it cost him around $20.

As long as your sister and you share the same last name I don't think it would be much of a problem.

Edit: Oh and make a spare key! I do this right away if I buy a car and it doesn't come with a spare.

Question... Is the car even yours?

If so, you really need to get the registration fixed. If you get into trouble in a car thats in her name, she'll get into trouble!

Just bring in as much proof of Ownership as possible. Something with your name and the vin number. I seriously dont think a insurance card would work tho... I mean I could go meet up with Locke all the way in Indiana, write down his vin number, and then go to State Farm and insure it in my name. Thats very easy! But, like he said, the worst they could say is no...

Always carry a spare key, and in a different pocket than your regular one. And run your ignition key NAKED.

And it may be time to stop lying to the insurance company.

In most wallets, they have spare key holders... If you get a plain key made... you can put one there! Thats where I have one of my spares. And I gave my mom my ex wifes spare master key... So I'm set if I lose any.

I repo cars for a living and, basically they can cut your key based on your vin#. Cars made before 1996 are standard cut keys. after 1996 the car manufactures intalled transponders inside the keys to (MOST) cars, depending on the manufacture. Some cars still to this day us a standard key. And that crap they tell you that they need your car to reprogram your key, All they do is stick the transponder key in the ignition and turn the key to acc for 15 mins and shut off and repeat this 2 more times for a total of 30 mins and thats it. Then they wack you for 95 dollars labor

What do you mean by "run your ignition key NAKED"?

Don't have it on a ring with the keys to your house, safe, garage, shed, office, mom's house, the 3lb photo album of your wife and children, your flash drive, entry remote, the Statue of Liberty novelty you got during that trip to NYC, and the climbing hook rated for a 500lb load.

Last time I needed a set of keys made all I needed was registration, two forms your id and proof of insurance. It wasn't my car, but thats what proof of ins, two id's and registration are for; everything gets copied and called in before they cut. If you cannot provide that for you car, your brothers, sisters, uncles, friends car, than your out of luck.

Like everyone said, they'll look up your cut, check it with the year, model and press cut from there. They're not transponder keys, and get a few spares.

If you lock yourself out of a dsm, you really don't need a key to get in. I've locked myself out a few times after work, leaving my spare and my wallet under the seat in the middle of the night. It takes about 30 seconds to open the car without breaking a window.

Funny side note about those Pontiac transponder keys from the late 90's, they also happen to start similar year Saturns. Maybe it was just dumb luck a few times.

Oh yeah completely forgot.. if you can't get a spare key cut for you, then just call a locksmith. I looked at a 5.0 Mustang for sale about 9 months ago and when he started it up he locked the keys in it. Had to call a locksmith and pay $40 to get it unlocked. LOL

If you do that though, go make some spare keys RIGHT AWAY!

I don't know if all yr's are the same but my 95 has a code on the passenger door lock cylinder that the locksmith used to make me a new key. Much cheaper to bring that code to them then make a house call.

the car is my sisters except im under her insurance...you get me ?....She has one insurance card with her name and the VIN# of the car and i have the other card with my name and the VIN ... on the registration it says her name with the VIN# ....why do you think they wont cut me a copy ?

yoo...man i went to get the new key like every said to do in my other thread...but man when i got there..the service guy was being so sarcastic with me..commenting like \" wow, thats a good picture\". As if the DL was fake is something...and im trying to be as nice as possible you know, so i can get the key. anyways they are d**ks...but atleast i got my keys...=]]..boosting once again =]]

Well I lost the only key I had to my 91 talon. Somehow fell off my keychain. With no eagle dealers in existence I head to mitubishi to see if they can still use the vin number. They send me to dodge. Dodge says to try mitsubishi. I really don't want to shell out too much money to a locksmith. I mean I will if I have to, but I will have to wait until after christmas.

Does anyone know of or had any other experience getting the key code from an eagle?
Thanks in advance.
Pete

Went through this recently only set locked inside the car. Went to the locksmith they said they could cut the key if I got the code from the Dodge dealership across the way. Went over there and the service desk guy gave me a ride to my house and popped the lock for free. But according to the locksmith all I had to do is get the code from the dealership and it would be $30 and 10 minutes to make. Just thought of it as a 3/4 a tank of gas that I wouldn't get to burn boosting.

I had the same problem as you did when i had my talon. I only had one key to start and i wound up losing it. I went to a "Chrysler" dealership and had a key made for $10 and they gave me the blank number for the key as well just in case it happened again. All i needed was a drivers license and a proof of registration that showed that the car was really mine and i wasnt getting a key made to steal a car!! haha. Im not sure if that helps, but hopfully it will. Best of luck to you

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try a Chrysler dealer later today after I pick my son up from school.
