So, ive got a Mitsubishi Eclipse first gen (as on the registration - MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE I (D2_A) 2.0 i 16V (D22A, D27A) 1993 150Hk) and unfortunately I send it to a workshop after it had some issues with losing power randomly and not wanting to start. The state they returned it in was dreadful and I'm in the process of fixing everything they managed to break.

Today that led me to a mechanically broken ignition switch and I need to replace it. It's much easier to find just the switch for an Eagle Talon instead of an Eclipse, so my question is if they are compatible. While I do know they are built on the same platform, there are minute differences and I was wondering if anyone knows.

Edit: This information is misleading. See post #6 for verified information.

That harness is for the steering lock switch.

It is a part of the full ignition switch. You can see in the diagram that the highlighted part number (MB606048) refers to item # 2 which is the harness in the link. The full ignition switch is item # 1 and includes that harness. From any parts website or eBay, you'll find the complete ignition switch (# 1) looks something like this:

Alright - I`m fully prepared to be stupid here and possibly criticized for it, but I`ll ask anyway. So, checking the schematics, that u so helpfully provided, yes indeed, the part is the same. The question I`m having is - is there a reason to buy the whole switch (being something electronic, or something like that) rather than just that part of the switch, that is indeed broken. The people that were trying to diagnose what was wrong with it broke the black plastic bit, that is inside the white switch, so it no longer can bite the ignition key pin, which is on the back of the key cylinder. (I`m quite green when it comes to these things, so anything I ask would probably be dumb xD)

Diving into the service manual, I’ll retract my previous comments. I apologize for the confusion. You should be able to replace just the harness you initially showed.

The part of the harness involved with the ignition switch is the section you originally posted. The other is for the key reminder portion. I verified this by actually tracking down which connector worked with each portion of the assembly in the service manual. The connector on the right is the ignition switch connector which is the one matching what you posted.
