ok here is my problem,

i have no original key to the car, the key that i got made fits in the switch but does NOT turn at all, i jerked the steering wheel, lubed the switch, moved the streeing wheel up and down, cranked the wheels...messed around for a good 3 hours straight! now since i need the key to be in the ACC position to remove the unit and replace it...what the heck can i do now??? i just want to swap it from another car...still possible??? please let me know what i can do...this is really pissing me off and i need my car on the road asap so i can keep working...

anybody??? :(

I have an original copy and the last 2 times i had a copy made they had problems cutting it for my 91 gst. The shop wasted 5 keys and about an hour of my time the first time. The second time they didn't have the same key to cut the new with and again it took about an hour of my time and he wasted about 7 keys and left me with a key that I must insert into the ignition normally then pull it out just a lil bit and try. It may take awhile to find "the spot" but if you wiggle it slowly while penetrating it slowly you may get it to work. The guy tryed to say i must have a chip in my key or my ignition was going bad. I told him is that why I have 2 keys that work perfectly in the door and ignition one being the original. I frequently bend my keys ### my locks freeze very easily in the winter and the stupid electronic lock on the other door won't unlock once the other one i got unlocked open and once i start the car the it will lock me out!!! That key is just fancy don't ya know!

Just picked up a 91 awd owner lost the key,i went to the dealer with the title and got a key for $15.00

cant get a key from hte dealer, tried that first of course, ive tried the keys both ways yes. and its weird but the keys work on the passenger door but not on the driver door. it fits the ignition just dosent turn...ive tried to insert it millimeter by millimeter and there is no spot where i can turn it... im getting pretty frustrated....

get you a hammer and a strong screwdriver and make it work.. haha
I recently had an issue with my key, it was like the ignition was froze.
The key didn't even want to go in. So being cold and mad I jammed it in there and shook the crap out of it for a while and it eventually worked.
you might have to go to the junkyard and get an ignition that your key will work or find one with the key in it.

There's one at the scrap yard that I spotted but I hear that I can't remove the ignition unless I put the key in the acc position. Is this true? I'll totally swap ignitions if I can. I just never took it apart, not sure how it works or how hard it is. What to u mean by screwdriver and hammer to make it work?
